Hey, I came across this blog post while searching for help with JavaScript. I’ve recently switched browsers from Opera to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5. Just recently I seem to have a problem with loading JavaScript. Every time I browse page that requires Javascript, my computer does not load and I get a “runtime error javascript.JSException: Unknown name”. I cannot seem to find out how to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Jakub, I found solution!
The code for the task I tried to solve must look like:

Go to page, “javascript:void( window.open( ‘http://translate.google.com/#en|uk|’ + ‘%t’ ) )”

The key is using ‘void’ here.

Hm, I really don’t know. If it works with “Go to page”, then you can just hold SHIFT when clicking the item and Opera will open it in a new tab. I suggest that you ask at Opera forums – http://my.opera.com/community/forums/forum.dml?id=28

it doesn’t depend on this
i’ve tried it also, the same result.
looks like just replacement of %t works only for “Go to page” command.
but it’s kind of strange for me… i thought it works for any command.
But i don’t want to use Go to page command, i want it opens in a new window )

I'm not sure but I think that this part:

Open url in new page, “http://translate.google.com/#en|ru|%t”

should be surrounded by another pair of quotation marks, so it becomes:

"Open url in new page, "http://translate.google.com/#en|ru|%t""

can you pls help with another thing i’m trying to do?
i’m trying to do this in the context menu
Item, “google translate En-Ru”= Open url in new page, “http://translate.google.com/#en|ru|%t”
but when new page opens i see that the url in the address bar contains %t instead of pasted text i selected.
What am I doing wrong? and how to achieve it in another way if that was i chosen is impossible?

Oh, big thank you for such quick response! I’m impressed.
But I’ve already solve it.
Don’t know how but my browser saved the script file above with wrong extension, that was the problem.

The variant with context menu item does not work for me…
I’ve done everything exactly as you said but it just doesn’t work

hey… I just made a button and works perfectly, just copied the script to my script folder and then used the following comand on the button maker

Go to page, “javascript:opera.getSelectionSource()”, “View source”, “View”

Cr: tohle na Fedoře – zdá se – nefunguje. Řešení se scriptem pro NM dispatcher by ale mělo fungovat všude. Nicméně díky za tip.

Díky za návod. Jak jednoduché…
Jen dodám, že pod Gentoo stačí vytvořit soubor /etc/resolv.conf.tail, který se vždy do resolv.conf přidá za vygenerovaný obsah. Možná to bude fungovat i na Fedoře .

Thanks a lot – it’s a nice tool…
Nevertheless, there are some more issues I’ve found… check the following pic:

1) is the issue with adding ‘,’ characters in front of comments
2) is the changing of the “xml version / encoding” meta-info in the beginning of the document
3) is suggestion… maybe just leave the comments the way they are!? I mean – not to remove ‘\n’… Usually, comments are user-friendly and easy to read, because they are purposly typed that way…

Ok, it’s very ugly, but it works for me
I modified the “unstyledxml.css” in \styles

I did just add the two lines at the beginning of the document:

div.header {display:none;}
div.syntax {display:none;}

The first will hide the “No style information header”, the second the styled tree.
I wasn’t able to get any of these div elements with “document.getElementsByTagName” and enumerating from within your script. Only the div elements created by your script seem to be accessible. So, I can’t provide a fix for the script, just a workaround for the moment.

BigMike, I’m having the same problem but unfortunately have no idea how to avoid that Maybe ask directly Opera developers?
